MTS in Syros is a therapy and wellness center which embraces a holistic approach to well-being, tailored to your individual needs. The multidisciplinary team of therapists is qualified in treatments like osteopathy, chiropractic, physical therapy, therapeutic massage, Clinical Pilates. Focused on both patient-centered and person-focused care, we use the Manual therAPPist application, a novelty in physiotherapy by George Tentzerakis DO and his team, to create the personal medical profile on each patient and treat each one accordingly.
As the linchpin of manual therapy system, this practice aims to open up the microcirculation and regulate body temperature. MTs is the oldest recorded manual therapy of the Greek practicing physicians in the city of Trebizond (Trapezounta being the authentic name) on the Black Sea coast and is included in the online courses of the University of Athens.
According to MTs, the human being is conceived as a single psychosomatic entity. This particular treatment aims at leading the individual back from a state of imbalance to being in temperament. Implementing specialized massage manipulations, originally while the patient is in a seated position and then in the prone as well as the supine position, MTs intends to restore the microcirculation and fluid balance. Originally, the medical practitioner Irini Iatridou passed on her knowledge to Sotirios Antonopoulos, founder of MTS Centres. Since 2015, MTs has been provided as a therapy treatment in the MTS Centres. In 2019 the University of Athens launched online course on MTs.

Osteopathic science is a holistic evaluation and treatment system which identifies and treats dysfunctions in the body. Understanding the complexity of human structure, Osteopathy perceives the person as a whole.
Osteopathy takes a holistic, whole-body approach to healthcare. The osteopath uses different types of palpation in order to evaluate the shape, tension, position and mobility of body structures analyzed. Osteopathy emphasizes physical manipulation of muscle tissue, the viscera and bones. The distinct techniques of osteopathic treatment are the Structural, the Visceral and the Cranial Osteopathy.
Structural Osteopathy primarily deals with the nervous and musculoskeletal system, focusing on body structural problems and problems caused by mechanical imbalances.
Visceral Osteopathy deals with the internal body organs and intestines. Visceral manipulations work towards locating the source of any problem causing restrictions in visceral abdominal mobility and improving the function of individual organs. Focusing on restoring mobility, the osteopath aims at increasing blood and lymphatic circulation, thereby enhancing the body's self-healing process. The connection between visceral dysfunction and musculoskeletal pain is thoroughly addressed in the books of the celebrated Jean-Pierre Barral, D.O.
Cranial Osteopathy is a subtle type of osteopathic treatment that uses very gentle cranial manipulation techniques. Dr. Sutherland, an important figure in American osteopathic medicine, perceived a subtle palpable movement within the bones of the cranium and was the first osteopathic physician to conceptualize the cranial approach. Recognizing this phenomenon as life’s purest and most vital expression, he named his discovery the primary respiratory mechanism.
The osteopath assess the quality of the patients' Cranial Rhythm and uses craniosacral manipulations to relieve pain, restore dysfunctions and fluid mobility. This manual therapy technique deals with disorders of cerebrovascular fluid circulation and malfunctions such as spinal pain, digestive disorders, sinusitis caused by head or bodily injuries.

FDM is a innovative method practiced by qualified therapists to treat fascial distortions. This specific medical approach attributes the cause of physical afflictions and impaired motor function to one or several of six typical forms of fascial distortion in the human organism.
According to Stephen Typaldos, D.O. and FDM’s creator, distorted fascia (the thin fibrous connective tissue surrounding all the muscles, tendons, joints, and organs in the human body) is often the cause of pain. Using the Fascial Distortion Model, the specific fault in the fascia is identified and corrected often resulting in immediate relief even from chronic pain. During the diagnostic process, particular attention is directed at a patient’s body language when verbally describing their discomfort. Intuitive gestures directly indicate fascial distortions. Taking the case history of the patient and performing a series of examinations complete the FDM diagnosis.

The Maitland Concept is a manual technique conducted by qualified physiotherapists who have been educated in the Maitland approach for the initial and ongoing treatment of functional disorders in the joint, muscle and nervous system.
The use of Maitland Concept techniques is based on clinical reasoning while taking into account the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). The combination of the individual and specific treatment of the patient, both initial and ongoing, with the therapist’s clinical experience and the latest scientific findings render the Concept special. In addition to joint mobilisation and manipulation of the extremities and spine, the Concept makes use of neurodynamic techniques, muscle stretching, stabilising exercises and specifically adapted exercises the patient can do at home. The Maitland Concept is a manual therapeutic method, a special form of physiotherapy, which emphasizes a specific examination and treatment of pain and musculoskeletal disorders. The technique allows a spine problem, for instance, to be treated locally and separately. Manual techniques can also be applied directly on joints such as the hip, knee and shoulder, allowing to loosen up movement restrictions and relieve pain.
